Pilates
Performed on a mat or specialized equipment, STOTT PILATES is a fitness regime for a lifetime. With an emphasis on breathing, core conditioning, posture and body awareness. STOTT PILATES exercise is a safe and highly effective way to stretch, strengthen and streamline your body without adding stress to the joints.
Pilates Classes
At Knead to Balance we teach a progressive approach using the STOTT PILATES method. Many studios and large gyms use an open door approach for classes. Open classes become over crowded and progressive learning is jeopardized because people have different skill levels. At Knead to Balance our classes are small and our classes are not open insuring everyone continues to advance at their own pace.
Knead to Balance is a fully equipped STOTT PILATES studio. We have a dedicated equipment room for semi-private and private pilates sessions. Our equipment consists of Cadillac, Reformers, Ladder Barre, Stability Chair, and Spring Walls. We also use an Arc Barrel, Spine Supporter, Spine Corrector, Fitness Circles, Stability Balls, Foam Rollers and Toning Balls.

The STOTT PILATES Difference
What is the difference between the STOTT PILATES Method & other pilates techniques?
Unlike the original series of exercises, STOTT PILATES incorporates modern exercise principles, including contemporary thinking about spinal rehabilitation and performance enhancement. For example, unlike the original approach, which promotes a flat back, STOTT PILATES exercises are designed to restore the natural curves of the spine and rebalance the muscles around the joints. They also place more emphasis on scapular stabilization. As well, there are more preparatory exercises and modifications to make the method safer and more effective.
STOTT PILATES Certification
STOTT PILATES certification shows our clients that we are a well-qualified and professional pilates studio. Knowledge of anatomy, 30 hours of pilates classes and 3+ years of teaching movement or fitness are prerequisites required before a person can pursue certification. Once approved, each certification takes over 95 hours of supervised practical instruction followed by an examination. Once certified, all instructors must complete annual education updates in order to maintain their certification.
