At Knead to Balance all massage therapists are registered and licensed with the government of Ontario.

In 1919, the Drugless Practitioners Act was passed and the Board of Regents was established to regulate massage therapy professionals in Ontario. In 1994, the Regulated Health Profession Act replaced the Drugless Practitioners Act.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue techniques are generally designed for more focused massage therapy work. Working a specific joint, muscle or muscle group, the registered massage therapist can access deeper layers of the soft tissue. Starting superficially and easing into the depth of the muscle slowly often allows more movement. This is the recommended approach in this modality since each person experiences pressure differently.

Ashiatsu Massage

Ashiatsu is a type of massage therapy in which a massage therapist uses parallel bars mounted above the table to assist in balance and gravitational force, while massaging with their feet. This modality enables the therapist to have a flowing, compressive, broad and consistent stroke giving the sensation of having very large hands. Muscles and tissues receive deep pressure and stretch without the pain of “digging in”. This will minimize damage to healthy tissue which in turn minimizes soreness that tends to happen after a deep tissue massage. Instead you fell invigorated and rejuvenated while feeling relaxed at the same time.

Hot Stone Massage

This is a very relaxing and therapeutic massage using volcanic basalt lava stones. The stones are smooth in texture and because of their volcanic origins, they have the capacity to retain heat. When using the stones for treatment, there is a greater healing potential because your tissues are being manipulated with hydrotherapy. The heated stone increase blood flow, allowing muscles and tendons to loosen more easily.

Pregnancy Massage

Many women suffer from aches and pains, stiffness and tension during pregnancy. Gentle massage from a registered therapist can often help to relieve problems such as backache, sleeplessness, edema, headaches, and other minor complaints. Treatment is done sidelying with multiple pillows to ensure the utmost comfort.

Bamboo Massage

Bamboo massage, like many types of massage, is a form of touch therapy that comes from the East. Ancient Chinese therapists would use bamboo reeds in order to treat muscle pain and tension by applying pressure with reeds of varying sizes and thickness. The bamboo reeds are used as a tool in order to provide the patient with a form of deep tissue massage. By using the bamboo as an aid, the therapist is able to relieve stress and tension.

Passive Stretch Massage

Is a form of bodywork in which the massage client is dressed in loose clothing and positioned supine on a mat, while the therapist performs a series of relaxation techniques followed by tractioning of the limbs and head.

Relaxation Massage

Most people assume you need to be in pain or discomfort to have a massage. This is not the case at all. Relaxation massage is meant to be just that: used as a treatment for stress management or just as time spent for you, which is the best treatment of all.

Chair Massage

Is done in a sitting upright position and the massage is performed over the clothes. Chair massage had been proven to relieve aches and pains and reduce stress. Please contact us about home visits.

Corporate Massage

Portable massage is great for your company and staff; onsite treatments can improve employee productivity and morale. Offering chair massage at trade shows and conventions can increase sales and business contacts.

Crainiosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle treatment approach that works with the natural self correcting mechanism of the body, and the Cranial Sacral System (the membranes and fluids which surround the brain and spinal cord). This treatment helps detect, and release restrictions in mobility, and enhance function. The rhythmic movement of the cranial sacral system can be palpated, and used to determine the core issues so treatment can focus on the cause rather than the symptoms.

Please call our downtown Milton Ontario location to book any of the listed massage therapy techniques.  Weekend appointments are available.
